Good days, Bad days

There are good days and there are bad days. Some days you wake up in the morning and feel like you got off the wrong side of the bed. Everything seems bad and nothing goes the way it is supposed to. Other days you wake up feeling happy and ready to take on the world. The day is beautiful and the world is on your side.

With regular exercise and a positive attitude you will find that there are more “good” days than “bad” days. “Well , of course” you might say to yourself. “We all know this!”

The question is: “How often do you we think and remember about it?”

In our rush of everyday life, work, eat and sleep. We forget. We forget that sometimes life is just all about attitude. Life is what you make of it. You get what you see, and you see what you want to see. An analogy that Alex told me, and one that I will always remember goes like this:

“When taking a walk in the garden, if you are always looking out for dog poop, that’s what you will find. However, if you go for a walk in the garden looking out for flowers, then what you’ll see are flowers.” What beautiful flowers they could be.

It’s a great analogy. I made me stop complaining right there and then.

Oftentimes, we get into the cycle of complaining and always seeing the negative side of things. Nothing satisfies us. It’s not good enough, it could be better, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Complaining becomes an ingrained habit. It becomes a part of everyday conversation. Sometimes it completely consumes us.

In the meantime, while we’re busy finding faults or looking for something to complain about, we miss the rainbow that rose for just a few minutes up in the sky, we miss the smell of the fresh rain that brings with it life to crops. We miss enjoying life a little more.

Most importantly, we might miss seeing the opportunities that were right in front of us. We missed it because we weren’t looking out for it. We were looking out for dog poop. So all we got was a pile of stinky dog poop.

It’s easier said than done, but a good balance of exercise and positive thinking will definitely make life much more pleasant. Exercise releases the “happy” hormones so it definitely is a bonus 😀

Exercise, be healthy, and be happy! Have more “good” days than “bad” days. It’s all in your mind 😀
